Huge demand for innovative communications coaching

More than 100 researchers from 27 countries were able to take part in a series of innovative science communication coaching sessions delivered by The CONNECTED Network.

Three different coaching sessions, delivered by Zoom video-conference, were run by the network, each on three separate occasions during July 2020:

  • Structuring conversations to help scientists seize the interest of others they meet
  • Making your professional online profile stand out, reflecting your strengths to enhance your networks
  • Writing concise ‘introduction’ emails that influence, rather than ending up in ‘trash’

In all the nine sessions the aggregated number of participants was 176.

The way scientists communicate their work, their science, and how awesome they are, can have a major impact on their future. This initiative helps early career researchers become more confident in communicating their science, and more skilful in raising their professional profile.

Full written notes from the coaching sessions are provided to participants with the expectation they then share the new learning in their own organisation or networks.

The sessions were devised and are run by CONNECTED Network Communications Officer, Richard Wyatt.
